18.4.19 Sandymere Learning Update

Date: 18th Apr 2019 @ 7:32am

Welcome back! The summer term has begun and already we are starting to see the first signs of warmer summery weather - long may it continue!

Thank you for coming and sharing our Easter Service at the church. The children were fabulous and I was so proud of each and every one of them.

This week we made easter cards in Sandymere class - these were sent home in book yesterday. I’m sure you’ll agree that the children have made a super job of these and they eill

look lovely on your mantle piece this easter weekend. Cast your eyes inside at the beautiful handwriting too. We have been working very hard on our cursive script and I’m sure you’ll agree that your child is doing a super job!

We began a new text in English this week called Stanley’s Stick and each child was given their own stick to reimagine it as something else. The role play the children took part in was phenomenal. Their sticks became magic wands, walking aids, torches, stirrers and even fishing rods! Perhaps if you go for a walk this weekend your child could find another stick and bring it to life? The writing we have completed about our sticks has been super with lots of imaginative ideas!

in maths we have begun to use our measuring skills and developed he language short, shorter, shortest etc. We used our sticks and compared heir height and length with items around the classroom and lots of fun trying to find something taller than our sticks.

In phonics we have focussed on the grapheme ‘ou’. Keep looking for this grapheme whilst your out and about with your child and perhaps take photos and send them into school via the school email address?

Have a wonderful weekend. Enjoy the sunshine!

See you on Tuesday.
