Blakemere's Weekly Blog - 22.09.2023

Date: 24th Sep 2023 @ 6:22pm

I can't quite believe we are at the end of another week in Blakemere. The children have worked incredibly hard in lots of different areas this week,

In English, we have started to read our book 'Star of Fear, Star of Hope' and the children found out that their predictions about the text were correct. We then moved on to revising using speech punctuation and then wrote a speech sandwich for a scene from our text. I was pleased with how the children tackled speech punctuation and used it to try and convey the character and move the action forward.

In Maths, we have explored Roman Numerals. We have changed numbers to Roman Numerals and Roman Numerals back to numbers. We then solved problems involving them too. THe children coped extremely well with them, Every now and then those pesky 4, 9, 40, 90, 400 and 900 caught us out, but on the whole we managed to solve them.

In History, we began to explore some of the key dates from World War II and placed them on a timeline. We discussed the events that we are going to explore in a little more detail throughout the course of our histriy topic.

In PE, the children have continued to explore dance and cricket. Please may I remind you that PE kits are required on both a Tuesday and Thursday.

I hope you have had a good weekend and I shall see you in the morning.
