Blakemere's Weekly Blog - 08.09.2023`

Date: 10th Sep 2023 @ 9:48am

What a wonderful first week back to the new school year we have had in Blakemere! It has been lovely getting to know all the children.

This week, we have spent some time exploring what life in Blakemere will be like and so far the children have responded extremely well to all challenges and expectations set.

We have produced a kenning poem named 'Who Am I?' These poems are riddles about each child within Blakemere and will form part our our display 'We Are Blakemere' which I will share with you all this week. There were some lovely and creative ideas produced as part of the poems.

We also spent some time as archaeologists exploring and documenting a variety of artefacts from both British and World history. The children were encouraged to think about what the artefact might be, how it might have been used and what time period it came from. They produced some excellent work and had some good discussions about the items. Head over to the curriculum tab on our page to see us in action.

We have also spent some time this week talking about the importance and benefits of reading. The children were asked to select their all time favourite book to create a recommendation about, which will be up in our room.

General Reminders

* PE is every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon. Children will need their PE kits in on these days.

* Reading diaries and books will come home Monday. Children are expected to read at least four times per week.

* Timetable Rockstars - Children need to be practising a given timestable each week.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and I shall see you all in the morning.
