Oakmere 26th March

Date: 26th Mar 2021 @ 7:37pm

This week the children have continued to work incredibly hard.

We continued reading our text The Great Paper Caper in English. On Wednesday, the children took on the role of Bear and made their own paper aeroplanes – many of which were more successful than Bear’s attempts! We finished the week by writing a diary entry of Bear’s day. Some of the children took the opportunity to try out some more adventurous word choices which was really lovely to see. Since coming back to school at the beginning of the month we’ve also had a real push on trying to improve our handwriting, again we have been impressed with how the children are rising to the challenge.

Our maths work this week has focussed on perimeter and by the end of the week year 3 were calculating the perimeter of shapes where not all sides where labelled and year 4 were working out the perimeter of rectilinear shapes. Finding some of the missing measurements proved to be a bit tricky but the children stuck with it and you can see some of their work in the excellent examples attached.

In history this week we looked at Tudor food and compared to the diet we have today. The children were pleased to hear that there were no plans to have a tasting session on this topic. I don’t think they liked the idea of trying brain and animal feet!

Thank you for remembering to bring reading books in on a Friday. This week most children had their books in ready to change.

Have a great weekend. See you next week.
