Hello Oakmere

I hope you have had a great weekend and managed to get out and about between the showers.  Last week was a busy week with Odd Socks Day, Anti Bullying Week and Children in Need. It was lovely to see the children so engaged with the idea of making the world a better place one person at a time.

This week we are looking at informal letter writing in English and the children will be using these skills to write a letter to one of the characters in our story. We are continuing to look at the six times table and the link between addition and subtraction in Maths. Please encourage your child to go on TTRS as often as possible as this will really support them with their maths. We will be learning more about the Mayans this week and we will be using our map skills to find where the Mayans lived. The children are really enjoying our science lessons on rocks-who knew we had a class of budding geologists! Its great to see the children so engaged and this week we will be working on identifying and grouping the different types of rocks.

Please remember to send the children’s reading books in every day. I try to hear the children read as often as possible and that is tricky if they don’t have their reading books in school.

Have a great week and I’ll see you tomorrow.
