Oakmere Class Blog 4.3.24

Date: 3rd Mar 2024 @ 8:59pm

Hello Oakmere

It was lovely to see the children on Monday and hear about what they got up to during the holidays. Our new classmate has settled into Oakmere life well and the children are being their usual welcoming selves.

In English, this week we will be writing the letter we planned last week. We will be looking at including adverbs, noun phrases and conjunctions. Later on in the week we will be looking at similes and how they enrich our writing.  This week is also World Book Day on Thursday 7th March where the children can come dressed in their favourite clothes and we will be exploring how wonderful they are.

In Maths this week we continue to work on our fraction skills. The children will be learning about fractions of amounts and whole numbers. This week we are moving onto the nine times table, and it will become part of TTRS .

We are continuing to explore the features of the rainforest and this week we will look at food, medicine, and people. The children will recognise a lot of the food as part of our everyday diet, but we will be looking at some of the more exotic varieties.

We are coming to the end of our Science topic of light but we will be exploring further aspects of light in Science Week the following week. On Thursday we will be exploring the patterns of light and how they are affected by position and proximity.

In PE, this week we will be working with a coach on Tuesday and on Thursday we will be working on our hockey skills.  Please can you make sure the children have jogging pants and a warm hoodie to wear.

Have a great week.

Mrs Kelly
