Another busy and fun week in Sandymere.

Firstly, an apology with the mix up with PE kits last week. We will make sure that we keep them in school today and send them home on Monday. If your child is in the multi-skills club on a Tuesday, I am going to do my best to remember to keep their kit in school until then.

What have we been learning about this week?

  • In our maths we have been representing numbers to 10 as well as counting forwards and backwards.
  • We are enjoying our book in English which is called Lost and Found. So far we have thought about the feelings of the lost penguin and created conversations that he may be having with the boy. We also helped the man in the lost and found office by writing labels for all the lost animals that he is looking after.
  • Our art work this week looked at including colour in our spirals. We used wax crayons, oil pastels and chalk. You will be able to see the results when your child brings their work home next week.
  • In science we learnt that we can sort objects using the material that they are made from – paper, metal, wood, plastic, stone.
  • We started our geography unit about weather and seasons. This week we ordered the months of the year, named the seasons and then sorted which months belong to which season.
  • In RE we are learning about why the idea of God as creator is important to Christians. Last week we used our imagination to  create models out of clay. today we painted them lovingly. We our very proud of our creations and even though some of them broke, we still love them, just as God loves us.

Please remember to send reading folders in on Monday. We will check reading your child’s reading diary and award a star stamp if they have read 4 times or more. We will also be awarding the first NumBots certificates of the year. There are 3 certificates each week, based on the amount of coins that the children have earnt across the week.

We hope that you have a lovely weekend.
