What a wet end to the week!

Here is a summary of our learning this week.

  • In maths we have been finding one more and one less. One less was a little bit tricky for some so it would be a good skill to practise at home with numbers up to 10. We have also started to compare amounts using the following vocabulary – more, greater, less, the same, equal.
  •  We are really enjoying using the story Lost and Found in our English lessons. This week we carried out some research about penguins and then independently recorded the facts we had found. The boy in the story is going on an adventure to take the penguin back to the South Pole. We helped them to pack their suitcase for the journey by writing a list of the things that they need to take with them.
  • In Geography we went over the months of the year and the seasons again. Then our new learning was about the weather in each season and what the trees will look like.
  • Our materials work in science took us on a materials hunt around the school. We found out that some objects are made from more than one material.
  • In our Monday PE lesson, we had a dance coach from Cheshire Dance and he taught us some break dancing moves. It was very exciting and very fast!
  • Our phonics and guided reading lessons are going really well. This week our sounds were tch, ve and ai. Our reading book that we bring home next week is the one we have read during guided reading. This should mean that your child feels confident to read this book to you and is focussing on improving their reading fluency now that they know what all the words say.
  • In art we drew shells by using observational drawing skills. We also had a go at continuous drawing. Can your child remember what continuous means?

What a busy week!

Have a lovely weekend,

Team Sandymere
