Fire Station Visit

Date: 6th Jul 2023 @ 3:32pm

As part of our PSHCE Fire Safety Unit, we went to the Fire Station this morning. We have had a brilliant time! We hope you get to hear it all first hand from your child but here is a brief overview of what we did and some pictures.

On arrival, we watched some videos about Fire Safety, Stop Drop and Roll and we also got to ask questions. The children were told about the Fire Bedtime routine we should all follow - you might be given some instructions tonight! We were also told that we should all be checking our Fire alarms monthly.

We then went outside where we had the choice to go in the Smoke tent to experience what it would be like to be in a building on fire - it was a real eye opener, despite not seeing anything! We also got to climb into a fire engine and then, we all had a go at spraying the training building with the hose.

We were also shown and explained what happens when the firefighters are called. It is astonishing that they respond within 90 sec! Mrs Roche was chosen by the children to dress up as a real life firefighter! She definitely looked the part!

We hope you hear all about it tonight!
