1.12.16 Sandymere Learning Update

Date: 1st Dec 2016 @ 1:19pm

It's starting to feel a lot like Christmas! With the arrival of our new book The Christmasasaurus by Tom Fletcher, we have found ourselves getting into the festive mood with Christmas beans, elves and Santa! Ask your child about the story so far or take a look at this link to see for yourselves. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VDXcpbHlgHI

On theme of Christmas may we say thank you very much for all your kind donations for our Traditional Christmas Hamper.  It is going to look amazing displayed at the christmas fair on Friday.  PLEASE NOTE A LETTER HAS BEEN SENT HOME EXPLAINING A CHANGE TO THE THE PICK UP INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE END OF THE SCHOOL DAY ON FRIDAY.

Homework has already been sent this week and should be in your child's book bag.  We would like your child to practise the lyrics to this years carol concert song.  We are singing about the innkeepers.

I think you've all guesssed my new favourite book!  The children have been selecting their favourites from our classroom library and sharing them with buddies. We have also looked at the world's best selling book. Can you guess what it is?  The Bible.  We continue to look at how the Bible is put together and divided  into the old and new testaments next week.

In maths the children have been looking at counting on and back from any number to 100 and explored halving of shapes and numbers and the children have done a terrifc job! Well done!

Mrs Smith took the children for a music lesson this week and it has to be said they looked like they were having a whale of a time marching around the room in time to the music!

In phonics we have looked closely at alien words and worked on adding sound buttons.  The children are rising to the challenge of reading and spelling their common exception words - thank you so much to all the parents that supported their child at home with this last week.

Mrs Jones is busy over the next few days teaching design and technology.  I can't wait to see the children's creations on Monday.

Phew - off now to write to Santa!

See you Monday.

Mrs Williamson
