11.10.19 Sandymere Learning Update
Date: 11th Oct 2019 @ 1:54pm
What a wonderful week we have had! It has been crammed full of interesting and exciting activities including writing our first story! The children have been working so hard on writing their own versions of Lost and Found and the creative ideas have been fantastic. We've added mischievious Arctic hare's bouncing into Bobby's house and poisonous tree frogs travelling to the Amzon by aeroplane!.. We can't wait to share the stories with you at parent's evening next week.
In maths we have been using the part whole model and bar model to help us with our addition facts within 10. Don't forget to keep practising bonds to 10 as part of your homework. Check out the homework tab on our class page for hints and tips.
In art this week we have explored using watercolours correctly and created some beautiful autumn inspired images. We talked about colour selection and how to use the paint brush in different ways to get different effects.
We are working hard on our Harvest song and we are very lucky to have some beautiful singers within Sandymere. You are in for a treat at the Harvest Festival at the church on Thursday 24th October.
This week's letter in handwriting has been the letter d. We have looked at how knowing the correct formation of c, o and a helps us to write the d correctly. We can see some gorgeous letter formation being used in the children's day to day writing now too.
SHOUT OUTs to Wyatt, Eva C, Holly and Mia for bringing natural items they have found on their autumn walks. This has enabled us all to look closely at some exciting pieces of nature more closely and fired up some excellent discussions.
That's all for this week.
Have a lovely weekend.
