17.3.16 Sandymere Learning Update

Date: 17th Mar 2016 @ 9:50am

What a wonderful week we have had! We have made lots of exciting discoveries and new adventures.

We started the week by looking at information texts all about animals in the ocean.  Looking for key facts and information.  I’m sure the children were surprised by what they found out. But nothing was more surprising than actually seeing the animals in the flesh!  The children were very excited to plan their routes in preparation for their visit to Chester Zoo and what a truly wonderful day we had.  The weather was perfect and the children were absolutely wonderfully behaved.  We even had a member of the public stop us and share how she thought the children will excellently behaved.  Well done children.

At the zoo the children looked out for animals in a wide range of habitats including desert, water and jungle.  They also enjoyed watching how the animals moved and played hide and seek – especially the meerkats.  The baby meerkat was adorable!

The children walked a long way throughout the day and I’m sure they all had a very good sleep on Tuesday night!

Back at school the following day the children wrote recounts of their day at the zoo.  Their writing was absolutely fantastic – check out Cameron’s recount on the blog.

In other areas of the curriculum the children have been looking at desert animals in science and also looked at the Easter story in R.E.

Check out the lyrics and song link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oODul5hgIl4 which is also on the blog for our Easter song for the service on Wednesday 23rd March.  The children need to know the words off by heart.  A couple of children will also have readings so please do look out for these in their book bag.

Another busy week!
