It's Christmas!!!!!!!
It's been a super week with a mix of festive activities and science investigations. In Science we have been exploring materials and their properties and introduced new vocabulary such as absorbent, transparent, opaque and waterproof. Through exploring the properties of materials the children were able to use this vocabulary effectively and then even carried out a science investigation where they had to find the best material for an umbrella to protect Fred the Ted from getting wet. We had a lot of fun squirting water and protecting Fred!
In your child’s book bag there is handmade Christmas card. The children worked so hard to create a collaged piece that incorporated a range of materials and textures. A SHOUT OUT to Ava for her skills in creativity. Add a sprinkle of glitter and et voila a wonderful Christmas card especially for you! Inside is a copy of the class poem that we created. It took us a while to come up with ‘just the right’ rhyming words and a poem that was fit for the season too. Well done children!
The children had their last PE session with Mrs Smith yesterday and they worked very hard using the apparatus. They will see her again this afternoon for D&T then she officially retires and heads off to new adventures. We would like to say a huge thank you to Mrs Smith for all her wonderful work in Sandymere.
Mrs Worstencroft will be completing the Christmas story in RE with the class today and she also tells me she has a lovely party planned for Friday morning. Don’t forget it is Christmas jumper day tomorrow. All donations go to Save the Children charity.
All that’s left to say is HAPPY CHRISTMAS and we’ll see you in the New Year!
