22.3.19 Sandymere Learning Update

Date: 22nd Mar 2019 @ 1:36pm

Well Spring is definitely in the air and what a lovely change it has been to the recent rain! As part of our science work we have been following the changing seasons and we have now begun to look for signs of spring. Perhaps you could take a leisurely stroll over the weekend and search for signs of spring in your local area. Any photos you take could be emailed to the school office and we can share these in class next week.

We have spent a lot of time on our topic work this week and the books are crammed with wonderful learning about the Wright Brothers, the history of transport as well as science work relating to animals and humans. Next week we will be exploring our five senses.

Lots of phonics practise  has taken place this week with a particular focus on the grapheme ‘au’. Such a tricky sound but one that crops up more commonly than you think. Remember to look out for the grapheme with your child whilst reading.

Mrs Worstencroft has a fun morning with the children yesterday building bridges! I can’t wait to see the finished products.

In maths we recapped less than and greater than with great success and we also tried our hand at countingnin 5s. We looked at the patterns and sequences and hopefully with a little lore practise all children will be able to count up to 100 in 5s very soon. Keep practising!

Thank you for the Easter egg donations so far. You are such a great support for our school.

See you all on Monday!
