After reading some excellent setting descriptions for our new book The Tin Forest by Helen Ward & Wayne Anderson, it seems only right to share a few of the best examples with you all! The children tried to include a new sentence type we have learned called 'Imagine, 3 examples', as well as expanded noun phrases, similes, metaphors and personification. Take a look, I'm sure you'll be impressed...

'Imagine a sea of pipes and metal pieces, imagine a world where nothing ever grows, imagine a place lonely and forgotten: this is the Tin Forest.' - Ruth

'Mists fall low and leave a smell of cold, rusty sadness in the stagnant air.' - Hannah

'Monstrous clouds gather in sadness, throwing down tears of pain.' - Luke

'Thunder growls like an agitated bull. Mega clouds gather in sadness like crowds on Remembrance Sunday.' - Ben A
