Good morning,

Week 2 in Delamere class has been going well with lots of busy bees working hard! We are starting to see more and more independent learners developing their skills and confidence across the curriculum, producing some high quality work and presentation.  We were all so proud of the handwriting and presentation used in the Night Sounds poems that we simply had to send copies home for you to see for yourselves!  We hope that you enjoyed sharing them with your child.

In English this week we have been focusing on the grammar aspects by looking at past/present tense, sentence types and word classes. We shall be starting our new English text next Tuesday where there will be a recount focus.  All will be revealed soon!

In math we have been working on sharing and grouping as part of our division work.  We have carried out lots of practical experimentation and looked at the relationships between division and multiplication in the process.  It might be an idea to look for further opportunities to explore this at home too whilst carrying out everyday activities such as pairing socks. How many socks do you have? How many pairs have you made?

We continued to look at Queen Elizabeth II on Monday and created our own fact files using research we had carried out from a range of sources.  We have also enjoyed a series of book linking to the theme of our queen including The Queen's Hat and The Queen's Handbag.  Both great stories for teaching and learning about landmarks too!

In PE we had so much fun working in pairs playing the Switch game and also developing our throwing and catching skills.  Some very impressive ball control skills all round.  Well done Delamere class.

We have continued to share the story Hotel Flamingo and started to consider the personality of one of the key characters, Anna. Perhaps you could start to talk to your children about the characters in the stories they are reading at home too.  Remember, during your 1:1 reading time at home to ask your child lots of questions about the text they are reading and engage them in book talk wherever possible.

Our PSHCE work has focused on bullying this week.  How to identify bullying behaviours and what to do if we see someone else being bullied?  We were very impressed with the children's recall of our whole school anti bullying policy of S.T.O.P and T.H.I.N.K and the wonderful conversations discussing the differences between falling out and bullying.  Some very mature conversations - well done.

We hope that you have a wonderful few days and will see next Tuesday!
