4.5.17 Sandymere Learning Update
Date: 4th May 2017 @ 10:48am
Another wonderful week has been had by all!
This week we have been exploring the difference between singular and plural in Literacy. The children have been very responsive and most can define the difference. Well done children. A SHOUT OUT to Hannah, Jack, Jason, Faye and Scarlett for bringing me lists of suffix –ing words. Thank you so much. Your raffle tickets are now safely added to the box ready for Friday’s Celebration Collective Worship. This week's challenge is to search for plurals in their reading books. Good luck!
In maths we have explored positional language such as left, right, forwards and backwards, half turn and full turn. We thoroughly enjoyed pairing up and going outside on the playground and exploring different instructions using positional language. There are still a few who mix up their left from their right, but not to worry as so did I on Tuesday!
In topic we looked further at where we might find the rainforests using maps, globes and atlases. The children are now familiar with the equator and are aware of the very different weather we have in the UK to countries that lie along the equator line.
In PE the children have been outside once again and this week managed to jog FIVE laps of the playground with Mrs Smith. Keep it up!
We are continuing to work hard in phonics in preparation for the screening at the beginning of June. This week we have also recapped some of the tricky words. A SHOUT OUT to Gracie who spelt the given words correctly inlcuding the word 'laughed'. Well done!
Class photographs were taken on Tuesday and all the children looked fabulous! We look forward to receiving the proofs soon.
The weather has been a delight this week so water bottles are a must. A polite reminder that we request WATER not juice in the water bottles. May we also request that you check all your child’s jumpers and cardigans are clearly named please? At this time of year your child will take his/her jumper off and sometimes they get mislaid. (Especially if they take it off outside at break time) It makes our job much quicker to reunite your child with their clothing if it is named. Thank you for your support.
May this gorgeous weather continue!
See you all next week!
