4.7.19 Sandymere Learning Update
Date: 4th Jul 2019 @ 12:53pm
We are well on our way to the end of term and what a wonderful time we are having!
We started the week with sport's morning. Sadly I wasn't there to see the children take part as I was on a training course however the children tell me they had an amazing time and LOVED taking part!
This week Sandymere class have been exploring sculpture in their art lessons. They've looked at the works of famous artists and even had a go at creating their own sculptures.
In geography we looked at the compass points and enjoyed exploring position and direction using our own paper compasses. (We will be getting the real compasses out next week) They loved singing along to the song to help them to memorise the compass points. Check it out here:

The children showed some fabulous fieldwork skills when using their compasses to locate places on maps of Cheshire, Winsford and Northwich. They were able to find roads, train tracks, rivers, lakes and forests too. We developed our skills further by giving directions to one another to move around a grid. Whilst recording their work in Geography I saw some beautiful handwriting and presentation which is always a joy. Top job Sandymere!
Also this week the children will be busy planning their own version of Goldilocks and just the one bear in preparation to write the story next week - how exciting!
See you all next week!
