7.12.17 Sandymere Learning Update
Date: 7th Dec 2017 @ 9:31am
It’s starting to look a lot like Christmas in Sandymere! Thank you so much for your kind and generous contributions for our class hamper. There is still time to add an item or two before the Christmas Fair tomorrow!
We have been practising our carol concert song Twinkling Angels and this week‘s homework is for your child to learn the lyrics. Your child’s lyrics are highlighted in green. The carol concert is NEXT THURSDAY and we look forward to seeing you all there.
Christmas aside we have been working very hard across the curriculum with a particular focus on fire engines and fire safety this week. The children have been role playing calling 999 and have been told explicitly that this is an emergency service only and that they must not call this number unless absolutely necessary! I’m sure you will all reiterate this message. The children have been writing fire safety rules and thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to explore information text about fire engines. A photocopy is in your child’s book bags for you to share with them too. Over the next couple of days the children will be creating a fact sheet about fire engines too.
In maths we have been looking at balancing addition sentences and also used Numicon to support our reasoning in maths. The children are really getting to grips with this and increasing in confidence with addition to 10. This is something that you could practise at home with your child too.
Mrs Smith got the large apparatus out on Wednesday and the children showed great confidence in moving on and around the equipment. Well done children.
SHOUT OUTs to Aiden and Jack this week for their excellent observational drawings of fire engines. So detailed! Well done boys.
As we are not sending specific phonics homework home this week please could you take a look at some of the phonics games for Phase 3 and Phase 5 on www.phonicsplay.co.uk with your child and help to keep their phonic knowledge growing.
That's all for this week. See you all on Monday!
