9.12.16 Sandymere Learning Update

Date: 9th Dec 2016 @ 1:44pm

May I begin with a massive well done to all the children who have worked so hard this week, even though there has been some poorliness in the air! Each and everyone of them has tried so hard.

We have worked on fractions of numbers this week trying to find half of any number up to 20.  This is by no means an easy task and the children have certainly given it their all.  Any extra practise doing this at home would be greatly apprecated.  Perhaps try counting out pasta, coins, smarties? Then split them into two groups to find half.  The children were fabulous at finding half of a shape!  Also in maths the children have been learning to spell numbers to twenty in words.  Homework will be coming home to reinforce this.

In Literacy and RE we have been looking at the story of Baboushka and learning about Christmas from a different perspective.  We have also revisited the nativity story.  We are currently retelling the story of Baboushka in writing using our story maps to guide us.  Lots of practise of our basic skills list!!

Mrs Smith had the children singing and dancing again in music lessons and Mrs Jones is having a very exciting design and technology day today!

We are up to Chapter 5 of The Christmasasaurs and absolutely loving every minute of the book.  A real festive delight!

Lovely to see so many of you at the disco last night.  It was a wonderful evening.

See you all on Monday,
