Blakemere Class - 09.10.20

Date: 11th Oct 2020 @ 2:14pm

We have had a very busy week in school. Hopefully next week the weather will be kinder to us!

On Friday, we celebrated World Mental Health Day. It was great to see the school filled with yellow, it really did brighten up the day! In class we discussed how we are all unique, but one thing that is the same about us all is that we all have feelings. We discussed the positive things about us, such as what we can do, what we are and what we have. It was great to see the children thinking about the positive features in themselves and each other.

In English, we have focused on baseball player Jackie Robinson. We have learnt about his life and then have written about him using parenthesis.

In Maths, we have subtracted using the counting on method, counted forwards and backwards in powers of ten, used the short multiplication method for whole numbers with up to 4 digits and multiplied numbers by 2 digits.

This week we have finished drawing our Islamic art patterns, traced them onto styrofoam and then printed them onto fabric using paint. The art work the children have created is beautiful and will look fantastic displayed on our Topic Wall.

In RE, we have started looking at the Christian Community. We have studied the role of a Vicar and created a role on the wall based on what a Vicar does and how they seek to create the kind of world Jesus wants.

Please remember to bring your PE kits in on Monday and Tuesday next week.

Please also don't forget your reading book and record on Monday morning!

As discussed with the children in class, our weekly spelling homework will now be under the 'Homework' tab on the Blakemere Class page each week, rather than sending paper copies home.

Take care,

Miss Hartley
