What a lovely, but busy first week back we have had!

In English, we have researched the features of a magazine article and then planned our own magazine article which we shall be writing next week. The theme of our magazine article will be 'Celebrating Black Heroes' and the children will be using some of the writing their have produced about different people from throughout this topic to support their final piece. I am very much looking forward to seeing the children's final piece of writing.

In Maths, we have started to explore percentages and have made links with the decimal and fraction equivalents. This will be something we shall continue to work on over the next week.

In Science, we have started our new topic on light. Lots of the children were suprised to find out that the moon was actually not a source of light but reflected the light off the sun. We shall be watching a video next week, which explores this further.

We have also moved on to our geography unit - 'Destination Sao Paulo' where we shall be exploring the continent of South America and undertaking lots of tasks that enable us to explore the geography of the continent and then compare Sao Paulo with a region within the UK.

Thursday was World Book Day. The children enjoyed the theme of Dragons, which inspired our day. They produced poems ' If I were a dragon...' using the subjunctive form and drew and then made their own clay dragon eyes, which were stunning. A lovely day was had by all.

SECRET QUESTION

What does percent mean?

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday and I shall see you in the morning.
