Blakemere's Weekly Blog - 18.11.2022

Date: 20th Nov 2022 @ 9:03am

We've had another busy, but successful week here in Blakemere!

In English, this week, we have planned and written the ' missing pages' to our book The Watertower. The children were tasked with creating what happened to Bubba whilst he was left alone in the tank, There were some excellent ideas, which were then transferred into the children's writing. The children had to think carefully about their choice of vocabulary, which was brilliant. We shall be publishing this work over the next couple of weeks, so keep a look out for it on our page.

In Maths, we have continued to develop our confidence and understanding of long multiplication. Over the week, we have practised the method and then applied it to a variety of problems and challenges. We have also started to recap on the short method of division. We shall build on this next week.

History focussed on us researching and learning about some of the most famous passengers from onboard the Titanic. The childrenh had to find out a variety of different information about their chosen passenger and then present their information into a fact file. It was great to see the children pulling together the information they had found out and presenting it in a way that they thought was best.

In art, we focused on exploring how todraw using perspective this week by following simple steps to achieve this. We explored how the horizon line, vanishing point and perspective lines can help us to be able to draw using perspective. Our intention is to take these skills into drawing an image of the Titanic.

We have also started to rehearse our song for the Christmas Carol Concert and the Year 6 children will shortly get their part of the narration that they shall be reading.

The year 5 children in Blakemere enjoyed themselves on Tuesday when they went to make lanterns to take part in the Christmas Light switch on, on the 25th November.

SECRET QUESTION

What was the name of the passenger that owned White Star Line?

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday.
