Blakemere's Weekly Blog - 19.05.2023

What a busy week we have had. Normal business has resumed following SATS and we have achieved so much.

Maths

We have continued to explore angles and shape this week. We have spent some time learning about the different triangles and their properties.

English

We started the week exploring how to use a semi-colon in place of a co-ordinating conjunction and it has been great to see the children having a go at using them within their writing. We also wrote a letter in role as the Giant requesting that Spring returned to the garden. It was great to see the children using formal language to complete this task.We finished off the week by creating a speech sandwich for the dialogue that took place between the weathers that visited the garden.

Swimming

The Year 6 children are making lots of progress at swimming. It has been lovely to seen their confidence and skill grow each week.

Finally, on Friday the Year 6 children played 'hunt the hoodie' on the school field. Their leavers' hoodies arrived earlier in the week and I wanted to do something special with them. The hoodies were scattered around the field and they had to go and find theirs. It was so lovely to see them all wearing them.
