Blakemere's Weekly Blog - 24.06.2022

Date: 26th Jun 2022 @ 9:35pm

What another fantastic week we have had in Blakemere with so many exciting opportunities.

we began to explore our new book in English, which we are using for the Winsford writing project. The children took part in some excellent discussions at the beginning of the week about predicting and inferring what our text might be about from the objects and images they were presented with. The level of discussion and the links and comparisons they were drawing were excellent. An overaching prediction that was made was that there once was a beautiful environment, which was slowly overtaking and destroyed by people who were careless of their actions.

In Maths, the children have continued to be challenged through exploration of 3d shapes and their associated nets. The children had to use their reasoning skills to help them to decide whether different nets would or would not make different 3d shapes. it was great to see the children working practically to solve these problems.

On Tuesday, this week, we took part in a visit to Weaver Hall where we were inspired to learn about life in the Stone Age, Bronze Age and  Iron Age. The children took part in a variety of different activities which enabled them to explore and learn about these three periods in history. They explored different artefacts with the view of identifying what they would have been used for and to give us a glimpse into the lives of the people that lived during this time. The children also thoroughly enjoyed making clay pots in the style of a person from the Bronze Age.

It has been a pleasure again this week to watch our Year 6 children's confidence continue to grow with swimming. They are all making excellent progress in their own abilities with swimming and it is great to watch the children flourish within the pool.

I couldn't be prouder of you all this week.

Well done and I shall see you in the morning.
