Christianity in Uganda

This week has been Inter Faith Week throughout the school and in Sandymere we have really enjoyed learning about Christianity in Uganda. We were very lucky to have a visit from George who taught us lots of new words, like 'Yesu' (Jesus) and 'Ruhanger' (God). He also taught us that Christians in Uganda love to praise God through singing and dancing, and we sang some Ugandan songs, played the drums and moved our bodies.
Later in the week we also learned a song by 'The Watoto Choir', a Ugandan choir with a strong Christian message. The song was called 'The Beat of Your Love' and the children picked up the lyrics very quickly and really enjoyed trying to copy the dance moves. I think that it will definitely be a firm favourite in Sandymere from now on! If you follow the link below maybe they can teach you!

The children also learnt about how Ugandan children, caught up in conflict, were involved in a cross making project. The project helped children to make crosses out of sticks to remind them of their faith in God and how he was with them in their times of need.
Sandymere had a go at making their own crosses using sticks and we have added them to our class display as a reminder that we can pray, not only for our Christian community here in Winsford, but also for our Christian family in Uganda and those all around the world.
Well done Sandymere!
