Welcome back Delamere families,

It was so lovely to see the children again after a week off and it was especially lovely to see some of the parents last night at parent’s evening.  Well done to you all for logging in and succeeding with this new way of meeting.  Tonight Mrs Worstencroft will be all ready to speak to our next group of parents from 4pm and then we shall be repeating the process next Wednesday 11th and Thursday 12th November. If you haven’t got an appointment time yet then please sign in to school spider and set one up for next week.  If you’re having problems booking your appointment then please phone the school office who are always happy to help and support you.

This week we have been busy bees.  In English we have been planning our own version of Troll Swap which the children will start writing today – it’s going to be an amazing story!  We are really working on building our skill sets in writing by adding the un- prefix, using ‘and’ and ‘because’ to join sentences and also making sure that our handwriting and presentation is spot on.  I can’t wait to read the story so far when I’m back in class on Monday.

We have been asking the children to practise spelling the days of the week and some children have gone above and beyond at home and practised lots.  Well done.  If your child still isn’t sure of the spellings then perhaps they could practise using these links

In maths this week we have been practising adding three numbers using a range of models and images.  To aid speedy addition we suggest that your child practises lots of quick recall of addition and subtraction facts to 10.  Here is a game they could play to practise.

It may seem really easy, but we are looking for speedy mental recall – so avoiding the use of fingers for counting/addition.  There are also three levels of difficulty so they can challenge themselves.

We have also sent to you all your login codes for Numbots and Times Table Rock Stars. The challenge set is for x10.

This week we had a guest artist in our classroom who taught the children to create felt flowers using wool and soapy water.  Lots of bubbly fun was had by all!  The felt flowers will be collated as part of a whole school piece of art. Photos to follow!

In phonics this week we have been looking at the ‘o’ sound within words such as moment, radio, disco, donut.  We listened to Polo sing this song to Miss Oh No and tried to hear and spell as many ‘o’ words as we could.  Lots of children loved this song so I promised I’d send them the link so they can listen to it again.

Next week's spelling list is attached below.

A message was sent out earlier in the week about the sale of poppies and merchandise for Remembrance Day.  Don’t forget to send your donations to school this week if you wish your child to select a poppy or similar.  Please note there is only a small amount of items available per class.

We hope that you all have a lovely weekend.  Stay safe.
