Hello Delamere Families,

It’s been another busy week within our Delamere bubble and the children have all been working so hard.  We are particularly proud of the diaries that have written as an end of unit piece linked to the book Look Up! Many children showed us how they could transfer their earlier skills from Reception and Year 1 into their writing and add a sprinkling of Year 2 skills too such as plurals, simple description and using ‘and’ to join clauses. We have thoroughly enjoyed reading through each diary and we hope to photograph some excellent examples and add them to the gallery section in the coming weeks for you to see too.  IF you haven’t already shared the story at home then here is a link to the story read by the author himself Nathan Bryon and there is a lovely draw a long link with the illustrator.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oSkihS5mm-c

In maths this week we have been looking at equal to, greater than and less than.  Lots of practical exploration using a range of models and images has helped the children to compare two digit numbers.  Remember the crocodile always eats the largest number!

Thank you to those that shared the continents song with their children (it was on last week’s blog).  We had lots of fun recalling the continents and most children can name and place at least 4.  Keep practising and let’s see who can remember all seven next week!  This week in geography we’ve been naming and placing the oceans.  Why not try out these oceans songs to help your child to practise

Here is a lovely link for finding out more about each ocean and learn a conservation message https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WZsxVDTqcU

This week’s collective worships have shared messages and bible stories of hope, compassion and being unique.  In our class collective worship we looked at how all children are special, unique and important.  When Jesus was on earth, he understood the importance of children.  There is a story where Jesus’ friends, his disciples, tried to send children away from him.  However Jesus told off the disciples and pointed out that children are very important. You can watch this story here https://youtu.be/xQseWiaip_c

We enjoyed making our own recipes of uniqueness and shared these with each other whilst listening to this beautiful song called ‘When you believe’ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9jAtB_UBWh0

A mini home learning task – learn to tie your shoelaces!  This week as part of our Keeping safe, staying safe unit of work we have looked at the importance of tying your shoelaces.  We used this link to help guide us.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=biPlP4yiyQs Can you practise at home please?
