Delamere Blog 12.11.2020

Date: 12th Nov 2020 @ 1:17pm

Hello

We hope you are all well.  Once again it was lovely to see so many families at parent's evening - don't forget Mrs Worstencroft will be meeting parents again tonight from 4pm until 5pm.

It's been a wonderful week in Delamere class with a whole host of exciting learning opportunities.  The highlight of our week was preparing for Remembrance Day and taking time on 11th November to reflect.  Each child created their own remembrance lantern covered in poppies which were then lit whilst we reflected on those that gave their lives during the war.  Please see out Delamere Remembers blog for pictures.

In english this week we have continued to write our our version of our Troll Swap stories.  Next week we will select some excellent examples to share with you via our blog.

In maths we have been adding three numbers using a range of models and images.  There has been a noticeable improvement in mental maths skills - well done!  Keep practising.  Don't forget to login to Numbots and TTRS to practise mental recall.  All usernames and passwords have now been emailed to parents.  We can see many children have logged on and are making great progress!  Well done to Orange Astrosonic, The Targstar, A.M.Y Earthpod, Neon Spacethon and Luna Stellasonic for logging on so far.  Let's see if we can get the whole class logging in over the weekend.

Also this week we have been working hard on our weekly spellings and phonics.  We can see some super progress in children's reading and use of segmenting and blending for reading.  Let's keep up the hard work by reading regularly.  Remember to read your book banded book as well as enjoying your library book.  you could even listen to audio books via apps like Audible  or download stories via KidsTube.

In PE this week we have been completing time trials using stopwatches to time ourselves sprinting from one touch point to another.  The children loved using the stop watches and enjoyed trying to set their personal best times.  We have some very speedy children in Delamere!

Next week is Anti Bullying week and all children are invited to come to school in odd socks on Monday.  Odd Socks Day is designed to be fun! It’s an opportunity to encourage people to express themselves and celebrate their individuality and what makes us all unique!

Gentle reminder - please do not send your child to school with a backpack unless it is PE day.  (Wednesday and Friday)  As we are currently not using cloakrooms,  all coats and bags are being kept within our classrooms.  Backpacks and bags take up quite a lot of space therefore we politely ask thay they are not brought to school unless absolutely necessary.  Thank you.

Have a wonderful weekend.
