Hello everyone

This week is anti bullying week and we launched it on Monday by wearing our odd socks to school to celebrate that we are all individual and that we are all unique.

We spent time looking at the anti bullying alliance resources and discussing how we are all different and yet we can be united in our differences. As a school we reviewed our anti bullying policy and looked at the STOP and THINK guidance too.  Delamere Class loved rocking along to the Odd Socks song here is a link so you can play it at home too. A copy of the power point is attached below.

This week we have started looking at travel and transport in History.  We have placed different forms of transport in chronological order and also learnt about Viking longboats.  The class really enjoyed designing their own longboats which we hope to make next week in class.

We got the paint out this week and created our world maps using pearly paints, sponges and stencils.  They look very impressive and will be taking pride of place on the classroom wall.

We have finished looking at Troll Swap now.  This week we edited our stories and peer checked for mastery and feature skills such as pounctuation, use of and/because, plurals and noun phrases.  Mrs Worstencroft and I will now mark these and be giving feedback to the children and celebrating their successes.

In maths this week the children have been amazing with their mental maths skills and really using their bonds to ten to add three numbers to total up to 20.  It's been fantastic to see so many children logging on to Numbots - this has obviously helped the children to speed up their mental recall.  Don't forget to log on to Times Table Rock Stars too.  If you are unsure how to go on remember it isn't an app to download.  Simply use your search engine and type in Numbots or Times Table Rock Stars the use the login in details that I emailed to you a few weeks ago.  If you can't find the email then please do contact the school and we will send the details again.

In December all Year 2 children will be completing their Phonics Screening Check so this we have been practising segmenting and blending real and alien words.  You can practise this at home too to help your child to prepare.  Please use the following sites:

Phonics Bloom  Phase 3

Phonics Bloom  Phase 5

This week's phonics homework is also attached below.

We have been super busy so far this week and the children have all been amazing and are trying really hard.  Keep up the good work Delamere class.

Have a great weekend.
