Good morning everyone,
What a wonderful week we are having! We have been very busy in our classroom with a whole host of exciting learning taking place.
Our collective worships have been about the importance of friendship, we have also looked at the Bible story of Joseph the dreamer and discussed jealousy. We have also explored our class Christian value some more with a look at compassion and how our daily acts of compassion can colour someone’s world positively. Here is the link that we used for our discussions - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rwelE8yyY0U
‘The Lord is gracious and compassionate. Slow to anger and rich in love’
Psalm 14
All reading diaries have been checked this week and books swapped. Your child should have a colour banded reading book and a library book to share at home. Please make a note of any reading that your child completes outside of school in their diary including any books or magazines they may have read. We are loving reading in our class and have just finished a whole class story of The Twits by Roald Dahl. The children giggled their way through this story and it is definitely one that they would enjoy sharing again at home.
In English we have continued to explore the book Look Up! and written descriptive sentences using capital letters, full stops, plurals (adding -s and –es) and interesting adjectives. We are going to really focus on our handwriting and presentation moving forward. Lots of practise is beneficial so please do take a look at the handwriting links to help support your child with their handwriting practise at home too. https://teachhandwriting.co.uk/continuous-cursive-beginners-choice-3.html
In maths the children have been working on partitioning tens and ones in different ways and have worked hard looking at how numbers are built. Ask your child how many ways they can partition 57 using a part whole model.
50 + 7
40 + 17
30 + 27
20 + 37
10 + 47
7 + 50
Also this week we have continued to look at crossing the road safely and created road safety posters to for younger children, some children have created the night’s sky using water colours, there has been lots of phonics taking place focusing on the grapheme ie as an I sound and an ee sound. In music we looked at two more myths and listened to the music that creates the mood for these myths – we had some great discussions about the music created to link with the myth of Robin Hood and the ‘twang’ sounds of his bow and arrow!
Once again thank you for your continued support. Most children have the right equipment on the right days and it really does help. Remember your child only needs to bring a school bag if they are bringing their reading books or PE kits. Where possible we would like to politely ask that your child brings as little to possible to school as cloakrooms are out of use and your child is storing their belongings on their chair and under their tables.
Monday – water bottle and packed lunch (if required).
Tuesday – reading materials, water bottle and packed lunch (if required).
Wednesday – PE kit, water bottle and packed lunch (if required).
Thursday - water bottle and packed lunch (if required).

We hope you all have a lovely weekend.
