Delamere Class Blog 18.03.21

Good morning,

What another lovely week we are having!  Lots of smiles and some fabulous work is being produced.  We have started the benchmarking assessments for reading and it is so wonderful that so many children are moving onwards and upwards.  Most books were changed on Wednesday and for those assessed so far, new colour bands were handed out.  Please make sure your child has their reading books every Wednesday for changing.  I'm sure we will all get back into the usual routine soon.

Exciting times in English as we have now started to write our own version of The Dragon Machine.  Our adventure story involves a child called Charlie who spots robots everywhere which cause mischeif and mayhem.  Charlie must work out how to get them back home to their junkyard!  The children in Delamere have been busy selecting quality vocabulary from the original story and using it to build their own sentences such as unseen, overlooked and unnoticed. Watch this space for some samples of the children's super sentence work.  They are working hard to transfer a whole host of skills into their work.

In maths we have continued to work on multiplication and have been learning about the commutative rule.  We have been using lots of practical resources to make equal groups and practise how the same amount of items can be grouped in a number of different ways.  Don't forget to keep practising mental maths skills using Numbots and Times Tables Rockstars too!

We have been drawing self portraits this week and I couldn't be prouder of the children's efforts.  They looked really hard at the positioning and shapes of their features.  We then turned our portraits into kings and queens by adding royal crowns!  Take a look at the images at the top of the blog for the children amazing work.

PE was huge fun yesterday when we got the parachute out.  Lots of great listening and active learning took place.  I'm sure the children can't wait to use the parachute again! Don't forget full PE kits on Wednesday's and Friday's please - leggings or joggers are encouraged as we are outdoors for all PE sessions for the foreseable.

Lots to be postive about this week.  We are really getting back into our routines and adapting to life back in the classroom.  We have really noticed how kind and compassionate the children have been towards one another in helping everyone to settle back in. As the bible says 'The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love' Psalm 103:3  A huge well done to each and every one of you. You have definitely let your light shine before other https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oXkxRNEy8XA this week.
