Delamere Weekly Blog - 04.07.25

Date: 4th Jul 2025 @ 4:17pm

Some great work this week across the curriculum Delamere!

In English this week we have begun to explore our new book, "Grandad's Secret Giant". We made predictions as to what we think might happen based on the front cover, followed Mrs Williamson's instructions to draw the Giant, thought of similes to describe the Giant and finally wrote our own descriptions of the giant based on what we know so far. Wow! What wonderful writing - keep it up Delamere!

In Maths this week we have continued to learn about money by adding and subtracting money and finding out how much change we would get. It would be great for children to practise their money skills at home so if you have any coins lying around you could play shops or have a look at adding different coins or making the same amount of money in different ways. It really is a very useful skill, even though cash isn't used as much these days, to see how money works and how much you might need to buy something. Once again we have been really pleased with the children's understanding so well done everyone!

In other areas of the curriculum we played dodgeball in PE, researched and completed leopard fact files in Geography, listened and responded to the 'Starfish Thrower' story whilst learning about Humanism in RE and looked at 'The Baby Monster Surprise' story in shared reading. All in all a very busy week with lots of successes.

Our big WELL DONE this week goes to Poppy, Reuben and Eliza for their Numbots work and Poppy, Oliver and Reuben for their TTRS work! Come on Delamere - let's see if we can have a full leaderboard before the end of the year!

We hope that you have a wonderful weekend and look forward to lots more fun and learning next week.
