Delamere Weekly Blog - 11.07.25

Date: 11th Jul 2025 @ 4:44pm

Well that was another very hot week! Well done everyone for trying hard to keep cool and calm but still carry on, not an easy task in such heat!

In English we continued with the 'Grandad's Secret Giant' story, using subordination in character descriptions and the children created some great sentences.

It's been all about time in Maths this week and once again we have been super impressed with how quickly the children have picked up this skill. It really is a credit to their hard work on their Maths throughout the year that they are now able to apply so many skills in different contexts. Great work! Something to work on at home - telling time in 5 minute intervals, e.g. 15 minutes past 2. Remember that each number on a clock shows 5 minutes so our counting in steps of 5 really helps here.

In Science we updated and completed our bean diaries and then looked at animals including humans, learning all about different offspring. We played a game of matching adult animals to their offspring and then discussed which ones looked the same/ different as they grew up.

PE the children practised their throwing skills by throwing the howlers. Lots of fabulous throwing techniques and they gained some good distances.

In Phonics we've looked at contractions this week, when two words are pushed together to form one word including an apostrophe to replace letters that 'pop' out. Examples of contractions are it's, he's, wasn't, won't can't.

Our big WELL DONE this week, amd the last one of the year, goes to Poppy, Reuben and Kalvin for their Numbots work this week and Kalvin, Poppy and Reuben for their TTRS work!

A special Numbots award for the most coins earned all year goes to Kalvin, Reuben and Archie! A big WELL DONE to you too!

We hope that you have a wonderful weekend and look forward to lots more fun and learning for our last week before the Summer.
