Delamere Weekly Blog - 16.5.25

Date: 16th May 2025 @ 3:49pm

The weeks are really flying by at the moment but the children in Delamere are keeping up brilliantly with lots of super progress.
In Maths we have now completed our Multiplication and Division unit having explored our 5 times tables and compared them to our 10 times tables. Please do keep up with the children's Times Table Rockstars home learning as this will improve their recall of multiplication and division facts for the 10, 5 and 2 times tables.
In English we have looked at our new book 'The Dragon Machine' picking out the key vocab, searching for dragons in the pictures and writing about what we already know about the main character which required us to use our inference skills. We have been having a real push on handwriting and have been very impressed with everyone's presentation. Keep it up Delamere!
It was a big week in Science this week with lots of work on learning new vocab germinate, shoots and temperature. We used our knowledge organisers to help us the explore the vocab and apply it to our predictions. We predicted which seeds will grow and why. a big shout out to Henry who was outstanding in helping every child plant their own seeds! What a fabulous help he was. Seeds are now on the window ledge and we are all very excited to watch as they grow.
In other areas of the curriculum we drew our own buildings inspired by Hundertwasser using columns, golden spheres, bright colours, chequer board patterns and curved line in Art. They looked great! Don't forget to we are now collecting small junk modelling materials so we can build our own buildings next week!
We worked really hard in our handwriting session this week writing the word 'fish' which doesn't sound too tricky but when you add in the letter 'f' and 's' and thinking about keeping our letters to the correct size it was a real challenge. A challenge that we all rose to though so well done everyone!
In RE we looked at the Happy human symbol and learnt about what it meant to Humanists. We then explored what Humanists believe.
Our big WELL DONE this week goes to Poppy-May, Reuben and Kalvin for their amazing Numbots work and Maxwell, Poppy-May and Daneel for their terrific TTRS work! Come on Delamere - Lots more children taking part this week so well done Delamere!

We hope that you have a wonderful weekend and look forward to a full week of fun and learning next week.
