Wow! Another week has whizzed by!

The children have been continuing their work on place value this week with lots of practical activites to practise partitioning numbers into tens and ones. My favourite was the playdough activity making Timothy the troll's favourite tea, sausages and beans! Each sausage was a ten and each bean was a one and we made the two-digit numbers on the plates, so for 25 we would make 2 sausages (tens) and 5 beans (ones). We also made towers and used part whole models to represent different two-digit numbers. We moved on this week to writing number sentences to show how we have partitioned the numbers, so 25 would be 20 + 5 = 25 and the children have been brilliant at this so well done!

In English we created our own troll characters and it was wonderful to see how the children had really used thier imaginations! We had fun trolls who loved to ride on fast rollercoasters, party trolls who loved to eat yummy donuts, spider trolls who climbed up buildings with their sticky feet and even a hairy wolf troll who liked to bite people with his sharp teeth! Super creations and the children are getting much more confident at using noun phrases to improve their descriptions.

In our class collective worship this week we listened to the bible story of 'The Good Samaritan' and the children were able to talk about what this story tells us about compassion and how it can help us to live our lives. We decided that God wants us to show compassion to everyone, and linked it really well to our no outsiders work. We also joined in with a song with beauitiful lyrics asking God to "open our eyes to see, open our ears to hear, open our lives to live your calling, open our hearts to love.' We began some work for our class display and drew some eyes to remind us to open our eyes to see so that we can be compassionate to those who need us.

The children have all worked so hard this week and we are very proud of them all. Our excellent examples for this week our Kobe and Alice, a big well done to you both.

We hope that you have a wonderful weekend and look forward to seeing you next week.
