Delamere Weekly Blog - 28.2.2025

Welcome back everyone! It has been great to hear all about your wonderful half term adventures and to see the children refreshed and ready to learn.
In English we have continued with our book ‘Major Glad, Major Dizzy’ and a real highlight was exploring underneath the floorboards (our tables!). We discussed what we might see, feel and hear and then used our amazing ideas to write sentences in the past tense including the words because and that to add extra detail. Wonderful work everyone.
In Maths we continued to use the inverse operation to solve missing number problems and are becoming much more confident with this. We also completed our end of unit assessment ready for the next unit which is Multiplication and Division. We will be sending home some information about Times Table Rock Stars which will run alongside Numbots as part of our home learning – watch this space!
In other areas of the curriculum we have added details to our owl puppets using a variety of joining techniques in DT, learned about what a disciple is and the names of the 12 disciples in RE, finished the mono print work, creating images of animals from Africa layering different colours and evaluated it in Art, supported our body weight using our hands and feet only in gymnastics (Hollie and Abbie won the plank challenge!) and began a new book in Shared Reading, ‘The Glassmaker’s Daughter’. We even squeezed in a trip to the Library which was gorgeous. We looked at how the library works, shared a story about little ducks and then completed a book scavenger hunt which the children loved! They were excellently behaved and showed great respect to the books by handling them carefully and returning them to the correct shelves in the correct way. Lots of squeals of delight and children coming over and sharing some lovely books they'd discovered. Some children brought their library cards and took books out. They loved scanning their own books and cards! Was it really only a 4 day week?!
Our big WELL DONE this week goes to Albie, Eliza and Reuben for topping the Numbots leader board. Well done also to all of the children who continued to read throughout the half term break. It was great to see so many lovely recordings and comments on our Reading Log. Keep it up! Remember, 4 times a week gets you closer to that next reading badge!
We hope that you have a wonderful weekend and look forward to more fun and learning next week.
