Delamere's Weekly Blog - 06.06.25

Wishing you a very warm welcome back after the half term holidays. It was great to see the children's smiling faces again and hear all about their half term adventures. We were very quickly back to it in Delamere and have had a busy week of learning.
In Maths we have continued with our work on fractions which has been, at times, quite challenging but we haven't given up and are starting to grow in confidence in identifying and finding a half, a quarter and a third. Next week we will learn about unit and non-unit fractions and begin to recognise and find three quarters of shapes and amounts.
In English we have continued to explore our class text 'The Dragon Machine' and focussed on George's flight in his Dragon Machine. We used expanded noun phrases and subordinate conjunctions to describe what it might have looked like, sounded like and felt like to be on this exciting journey. Great writing Delamere!
In other areas of the curriculum we compared 17th Century London to London today in History and then learned about the Great Fire of Nantwich and were very surprised to discover that some bears were involved, we looked at humans features of the contrasting county Zambia in Geography learning that the capital city is Lusaka, PE this week was dance and some sports day practise and we had a visit from the Dental Nurse in PSHE. She reminded the children to brush their teeth twice a day for two minutes in circular motions and also shared the important tip to spit but not rinse after brushing. We also discussed the benefits of having water and not juice. Each child brought home a toothbrush and toothpaste to help them with their dental care routine at home.
PE kits - Please ensure that your child has their PE kit in school for their sessions next week.
There were a few reading books missing on Monday this week. Please make sure that your child's reading book is in school every day and don't forget to read at home four times a week to get closer to the next reading badge.
Your child will also be bringing home a letter about a sponsored Danceathon next week so keep your eyes peeled for this.
Our big WELL DONE this week goes to Poppy, Reuben and Olivia for their Numbots work and Reuben and Poppy for their TTRS work! Your certificates are in school waiting for you. Come on Delamere, let's get some new names on the leader board!
We hope that you have a wonderful weekend and look forward to a full week of fun and learning next week.
