Delamere's Weekly Blog - 13.9.2024

What a fantastic second week in Delamere we have had!
In English we were excited to start to explore our new story ‘Troll Swap’. We met the first character Timothy the troll and used lots of wonderful words to create noun phrases to describe him and his clean, tidy cave. Please resist the temptation to read ahead as lots of our learning is based on the children making predictions and working through the story together.
In Maths we have had lots of practical fun exploring tens and ones in 2-digit numbers. We used dienes blocks, Numicon and tens and ones counters but you could use all sorts of things at home to make different numbers. Perhaps your tens could be breadsticks and your ones could be smarties! Or sticks from your garden could be your tens and pebbles could be your ones. So the number 32 would be 3 sticks and 2 pebbles. We would love to see photos of any practise you do at home – just email them to admin@overstjohns.cheshire.sch.uk and they will forward it to us.
In RE we continued to learn about the Holy Spirit and made some beautiful headbands to help us remember two of the symbols that Christians use to represent it – wind and fire. Great work Delamere!
Reading folders will be coming home on Monday so look out for those and don’t forget to check out Mrs Williamson’s email regarding resources for the week ahead.
We hope that you have a wonderful weekend and look forward to seeing you tomorrow for more fun and learning.
