Delamere's Weekly Blog - 19.4.2024

It has been so lovely to welcome Team Delamere back after the Easter break and we have got the Summer Term off to a fantastic start.
In English we have worked really hard to include the words ‘but’ and ‘or’ in our sentences writing about people’s jobs in 1666 London and when writing instructions for a fire drill. We also continued to add interest and detail to our writing using lots of interesting adverbs like immediately, safely, calmly and patiently.
In Maths we continued to solve Multiplication and Division problems. Well done to the children who have been accessing Times Table Rockstars over the holidays. Please do let us know if you are having any issues with it.
It was great to hear how the children’s bean plants are getting on and it sounds like we might be able to get to the Giant’s castle with some of them soon! We looked back at our predictions for our comparison test and were all very surprised to see that the bean that had been planted with water but no sun did still grow. It had a white stem, yellow leaves and didn’t look very healthy but it had grown. I wonder if anyone can do some research to find out why the plant wasn’t green.
In Geography we have been learning about hot and cold places, thinking about the climate, landscape and the animals that live there and in Shared Reading we have begun a new unit on Fairytales and are loving our first book 'Once Upon a Wild Wood' by Chris Riddell.
I am so sorry but there was a problem with the Numbots website last night and I couldn't print the certificates off but our big WELL DONE goes to Oscar, Suzanne and Archie. Our very first winners for Times Table Roskstars goes to Oscar and Tyler! Your certificates are now waiting for you at school!
Don't forget it is PE on Monday and Thursday so full PE kits are needed. You are very wlecome to leave kits in school for the half term so you don't have to worry about it.
We hope that you have a wonderful weekend and look forward to more fun and learning next week. (Mrs Smith is in class on Monday - Thursday and Mrs Worstencroft is in class on Friday.)
