Delamere's Weekly Blog - 21.4.23

Welcome back and what a super start to the Summer Term we have had!

We have hit the ground running with our English and Maths.

In English we started a brand new unit all about the Great Fire of London and produced some gorgeous writing to describe the city of London during 1666 and excellent sentences using the word ‘but’ to connect a positive and negative idea about a 17th Century job. Great work Delamere!

In Maths we have made fantastic progress in our Multiplication and Division unit, recognising and making equal groups, writing and solving repeated addition sentences and reading and solving some simple multiplication calculations. You will hopefully have already seen the Times Table Rockstars blog and letter – this is a very fun way to practise your times tables and we look forward to seeing you move through the Rock Star ranks. Any problems with logging on please do let us know.

In Science we had some slightly disappointing news about our beans – they hadn’t grown over the Easter break like we had hoped. We chatted about what could have happened and decided that we would have another go with one, whole class mini greenhouse and also each planted a bean in a pot with soil. We will once again monitor their progress and keep you up to date. Fingers crossed that they are happier and more successful than our last attempt.

A few reminders:-

  • Reading books and records must be in school every day, especially on book change day which is Thursday. We cannot change the children’s books if they are not in school.
  • PE sessions are Monday and Thursday so PE kits are needed for these days.
  • Home learning is an important part of your child’s education – we ask that children read at least 4 x a week (please record each time you read) and access Numbots/TTRS 3 x 15 minutes a week.

We hope that you have a wonderful weekend and look forward to lots more fun and learning next week.
