Delamere's Weekly Blog - 28.03.25

Date: 28th Mar 2025 @ 3:37pm

Well, that's a wrap for swimming and what a fantastic 3 weeks it has been. Well done to each and every one of you for all of your hard work and determination. We are all shattered but it was absolutely worth it to see all of your successes. WELL DONE DELAMERE! We couldn't be prouder!
In Maths we began learning about division, first by working out how many groups there would be when we were told how many were in each group, e.g. If there are 6 apples and we need to put 2 in each basket, how many baskets will we need? We then moved on to making equal groups by sharing, working out how many there would be in each group when we are told how many groups there are. E.g. If we have 10 sweets and share them equally between 2 children how many would each child get? It is quite difficult to see the difference but we have had a really good try and it is a great skill when solving real life problems.
In Geography we looked at the location and conditions of deserts and compared them to Antarctica. Lots of gorgeous geographical vocabulary being used. Then we researched rainforests and made our own fact sheets. We then shared our favourite facts with the class.
In PSHCE we looked at facial expressions and body language. We explored different emotions and had to describe what an emotion might look like - such as upset might be shown as tearful, down turned mouth, shrugged shoulders.  We then created our own emotion emojis. The children were very impressive with a whole host of emotions including anxious, delighted, surprised, worried.
In Computing we continued to learn about algorithms and practised using the Beebots.
In RE we explored the parable of the Wise and Foolish Builder first by watching what happened when my watering can rained on my model house built on a pile of sand and another built on a strong rock. We talked about strong foundations in buildings and how we can have strong foundations in our lives. Lots of lovely discussions about who helps us and how Christians believe that the bible is the strong foundation to their lives.
In History we continued to work as History detectives and looked at a selection of clues, working out what information we could work out from each clue. We had to look closely and think about which clue/piece of evidence was the most useful for different facts.
This week our big WELL DONE goes to Reuben, Charlie and Maxwell for coming top of the Numbots leaderboard and Reuben and Olive for topping the TTRS chart! Great work from you all!
We have not sent any spellings home this week as next week is super busy. If your child would like to practise their spellings they can practise previous ones or the Year 2 CEW words below.
Next week will be a slightly different week for Team Delamere as some of us will be going to Robinwood for their residential and some children will be staying at school with Mrs Williamson for lots of fun with some of our friends in Oakmere. We hope that our Robinwooders have the most amazing time and we cannot wait to hear all about it on your return! Mrs Worstencroft will see you all next week as she will be working alongside Mrs Teece in Hatchmere.
We hope that you have a wonderful weekend and look forward to more fun and learning next week.
