Delamere's Weekly Blog - 7.3.2025
Date: 7th Mar 2025 @ 4:11pm
Another great week in Delamere with the added excitement of World Book Day on Wednesday. (Please see separate post for more details.)
In other areas of the curriculum we have continued to explore our story ’Major glad, Major Dizzy’ in English, moved onto Multiplication and Division in Maths by finding and adding equal group, evaluated our puppets in DT, learnt about the disciples shields and created our own shields in RE, started hot and cold places in Geography, focussing on finding the equator, arctic circle and Antarctic, explored balancing on beams and holding balanced positions in PE, looked closely at some amazing vocabulary in Shared Reading such as 'splintering' and 'smithereens' and practised our next join in handwriting which is ‘th’. Wow what a busy week!
Our big WELL DONE goes to Kalvin, Izzy and Reuben for topping our Numbots leader board. From this week we would like the children to also access the Times Table Rockstars online game which helps them to quickly recall multiplication and division facts. We will begin by focusing only on the tens times table, but as the children get more confident they will be able to work through the other Year 2 times tables, the 2s and 5s. The programme is designed to move the children through as they become more confident but the key once again is little and often. Initially you may want to help your child with some of the answers as it is a new format, or perhaps have a sheet with the times tables written on to support them, but eventually the idea is that the children can confidently recall the number facts without any support. To log on simply follow this link Times Tables Rock Stars: Play and use the same login details as Numbots. Please let us know if you have any problems and we will do our best to fix them. We will give certificates out for most coins earned on Numbots and most coins earned on TTRS. Have fun!
We hope that you have a wonderful weekend and look forward to more fun and learning next week.
