This week we have talked about Moses. We talked about the care that the Pharaoh’s daughter showed him when lifting him out of the water in his basket and bringing him up as her own and linked this to our No Outsiders work – different families, same love. We also thought about the way that the Pharaoh treated people from other countries and how this is not what God would do or what we should do, how we should treat everyone equally, no matter what country, culture or religion they have. We have also talked about how we all have the potential to be great leaders – God chose Moses to lead the Israelites out of Egypt despite his humble beginnings because he saw that Moses had great faith. We also then when on to read the story “The Way Back Home” by Oliver Jeffers and how the two characters became friends and helped each other, despite not even speaking the same language. “Love should be your guide. Be eager to have the gifts that come from the Holy Spirit…If you speak languages that others don’t know, God will understand what you are saying…” 1 Corinthians 14.
Staff had some very interesting training on Tuesday evening! We have been thinking about ways to support children’s mental health and well-being and Mrs Starsiak organised some Mini Me Yoga training for us all. This is a programme aimed specifically at children to help them deal with the everyday stresses and strains of life – I know that the staff all found it very calming on Tuesday! We have two more sessions to go until we are all fully trained but have been given lots of strategies that we can use in the meantime to help support our children – watch out for children coming home saying that have been a mountain, or a tree or a lion as well as many other things!
Mrs Singleton, who teaches whole class violin to Year 5, came into school on Wednesday to demonstrate some other instruments with the children and they had a really great time listening and watching! We are now able to offer musical instrument lessons on the violin, viola and cello to add to our guitar, ukulele and piano lessons. Letters came home this week. If you would like your child to learn an instrument, further details are available in the office window.
Our Harvest Festival takes place in St. John’s church next Friday 26th October at 9.15am. The children would be delighted to see you there sharing in our service. As in previous years, donations to the Mid Cheshire Foodbank would be gratefully received – these can be sent into school via your child – letters have gone out this week.
As part of its #WakeUpWednesday campaign, National Online Safety has teamed up with MusicAlternative to launch a Fortnite online safety song for us to share with our whole school community. The song encourages parents and carers to "stay switched on" to online dangers when their children are playing Fortnite.
