Hello Hatchmerians,
This week we have been creating our own squirrel fact book! Our children have learned lots about squirrels and woodland creatures as this links to our core literacy book, The Squirrels that Squabbled. As you can see from the examples below Hatchmere are really working hard to hear the sounds and write words. What a fabulous job they are doing!
We have also given the silly squirrels in our book, Spontaneous Cyril and Plan Ahead Bruce, some very sound and helpful advice about how to behave around water. We have the River Weaver in Winsford and while the children know it is a place you can go to feed ducks, they are also aware that rivers are extremely dangerous.
In our outside classroom we have been making potions and mixing colours and we have had great fun….Our as Mrs Kelly and I know it, teaching about capacity. The language the children used was amazing; “You need to fill it a bit more or its not full up to the top”, “If you tip some out, we will have the same amount.”
Thank you to those parents who attended our reading meeting, attached to this blog is the slides for you to look over again or for those parents who were unable to attend.
