Our first week all together!

We have had a FANTASTIC time in Hatchmere this week as you can see from the pictures below. The children have already learned so much in such a short period of time. The morning routine is really starting to sink in and is becoming automatic with no reminders for some. This helps the children to settle down and begin their school day. You may have already heard about their 'spot' on the carpet.

An important aspect of our days' activities is 'tidying up'. The children are expected to ensure that all toys and equipment are left how they found it so that it is ready for it's next use. The children brush up sand, soak up water, clean and organise the small world, return construction boxes to shelving and hang up their dressing up clothes. in addition to exploring our classroom, all children have contributed to a class display, thank you to those parents who have sent in pictures of their families to include.

Hatchmere took part in their very first Collective Worship today! They joined the rest of the school in the hall to listen to Mrs Snowdon as she talked about God as our creator. The children sat beautifully and listened intently, we were very proud of them! Friday is also the day that 1 raffle ticket is pulled out of each classes' Pot of Gold in front of the whole school. Raffle tickets are recieved by the children as a reward for excellent behaviour and achievment. They add their names to the back and if their raffle ticket is pulled out it is celebrated by everyone and that child gets to recieve a prize from the class prize box. Lily's raffle ticket was pulled out today and she proudly picked out a prize to take home. Well done Lily!

Mrs Kelly and I also enjoyed meeting some of our lovely parents too when they visited our classroom yesterday. The cakes provided were lovingly baked by our class bakers! Ask your child how we know what a baker looks like (the answer may be in our pictures below ;0)). We will be having another after school play session next term for those that were unable to make it this time.

Today in Hatchmere your child has been given a named reading folder. Inside this folder you will find your child's Reading Diary, a Stage 1 book and any important letters/information. Please ensure this is sent in to school with your child each day:

Stage 1 books are picture books with no words. Children are encouraged to look at and use the
pictures to help create and tell their own stories. Children will move to stage 2 once they have
begun to be taught phonics.
