Hello Hatchmere

Another busy week in our class as we settle more into school life and all the challenges that brings.  This week the children have been attending our whole school Collective Worship every morning and have sat and listened beautifully.  Mrs Teece and I have been very proud of them.  They have been talking about the season and creating a lovely summer scene using wax resist and ink.  We have started our Phonic lessons and the children have been writing and recognising the letter s. 

Next week we will be starting a new topic which hopefully the children will be able to talk to you about after our surprise on Monday (Shh! keep it a secret).  Next Wednesday will also be our first full attempt at PE which is always interesting as we tend to spend more time getting undressed, dressed, undressed and then dressed again than we do doing actual PE!  You can help with this process by letting your children get dressed and undressed by themselves every day.  This is an important skill for your child to achieve and will help them feel confident about their own abilities.

This week in Understanding the World and in our topic All about Me we are going to be looking at where we live and Winsford.  For your Parental Involvement activity this week we would like you to look at your family and talk to your child about where they came from.  You might want to look at a map whilst you are doing this or watch a You Tube clip about your home town or city.  Please write a brief synopsis of this after you have talked to your child and send it to us on our class email page hatchmere@overstjohns.cheshire.sch.uk .  We will then use this information to talk to your child about where they live and where their family lived.
