Hatchmere's Class Blog 11.03.22

Date: 11th Mar 2022 @ 3:37pm

Hello Hatchmerians,

We have been very fortunate to have a Bog Baby visit us in Hatchmere and we believe it will stay for the rest of this term. The children were inspired write about what magical creature they might find in a pond. The Bog Baby book also fits nicely into our spring focus. Hatchmere went for a walk to search for and identify signs of spring. There will lots of new changes outside in the next few weeks and we will be keeping an eye on them!

In math this week we have looked at the number 7 and what other numbers can ‘bond’ together to make this number. Additionally, Hatchmere have been challenged to find 1 more than and 1 less than. Ask them what a number sandwich is!?

In our class collective worship we have discussed, sensitively, the current conflict in the Ukraine. We have taken this opportunity to reflect and pray for a peaceful resolution. The children have planted Sunflower seeds (national flower of Ukraine) as a symbol of hope and a brighter future to come.

A huge congratulations to our Silver Star awardees today! These children have consistently read four times a week since the beginning of the school year. As a result of this, these children are confident and capable readers.

Finally, the out-pouring of support we have received from our school family and the wider community this week has been phenomenal. While the ‘visitors’ in our outside classroom left us feeling disappointed and disheartened this was soon overtaken by the love, care and compassion shown to us by the parents/guardians/grandparents/Aunts/Uncles and genuine members of the public who want the best for our lovey children. If we haven’t had chance to discuss your kind offers with you yet, we are not ignoring you. We have been overwhelmed with messages and offers, we are working through them and will be in contact soon. Thank you!
