We are officially half-way through the Spring term and half-way through your child’s first year in school!
Well done to our 3 children who were awarded their Bronze Reading Badge today. They have shown that they have read 4 times a week over 10 weeks. Superstars!
I hope everyone who managed to attend our Drawing Club lesson on Monday enjoyed themselves. The children have not stopped chatting about it all week. You can find the link to the Wacky Races stimulus below and the accompanying vocabulary.
The children have been using their story maps to support and independent piece of writing about their journey around London. I was so pleased to see the children planning their sentences, sounding out tricky words, using finger spaces and using the sound mats. All by themselves….they are amazing.
Our Spring detectives were on the hunt fr some early signs of Spring around the school grounds. They spotted snowdrops, daffodills, buds on tree's and some emerging plants. We are so ready for Spring and all that it can teach us (and some gorgeous Spring weather!). Hurry up, Spring!
We have had our gorgeous Reading Champions in Hatchmere this week to read with a child. They told them some fab stories and the children chosen really enjoyed teaming up with a Blakemere Giant for some 1:1 storytime and giggles.
Our Valentines card making activity was a huge hit today, Hatchmere were very excited to make a card for someone important to them.
Thank you to all those who came to our Consultation Evenings. It was lovely to chat about your child and their achievements. I particularly appreciate all of the positive feedback about your child’s learning and their excitement to come to school.
Have a lovely half term ‘break’, even if that just means you just don’t have to get up quite as early. Please may we ask that you continue to read with your child daily to support their learning for when they return.
