Wonderful weather and wonderful learning this week!
We were all inspired by the big bright ball in the sky and took the opportunity to get the children to plant up some seeds! They all enjoyed getting their hands muddy and are really keen to see the fruits of their labour in a few weeks’ time.
The children have been discussing the effects of the Bog Baby being taken out of his natural habitat and being kept in a bucket. The class were so confident in their answers and reasoning and it was unanimous that the Bog Baby should be put back into his magical pond in the dell. Hatchmere role played being the Bog Baby and telling the girls how they were feeling and what the girls should do. We have had some fantastic writing along with a few Head Teacher awards given out.
Doubling has been the name of the game in math with the children challenged to double numbers up to and including 10. Additionally, the children have been sharing out amounts equally using mathematical language; equal, more, fewer, share. We also celebrated World Math’s Day by looking at the book How Many Jelly Beans? Of course that meant the children got to explore some math problems with actual jelly beans!! Mrs Kelly was disappointed to find that her favourite flavour had the least amount of jelly beans. Can your child tell you what that flavour was?
In PE this week the children have enjoyed trying to control a football. A deconstructed game of football ensued (think seagulls and chips) and Hatchmere loved the oppurtunity to try and score a goal. A great time was had by all.
Another glorious weekend is in front of us, we hope all of our Hatchmerian family get the opportunity to get out and enjoy it.
See you all next week!
